Browse All Caravan Mattress Shapes

We manufacture 62 different replacement mattress shapes for touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans, and boats. Every shape is custom-made to measure in our Birmingham factory. Select your size above to get started.

Rectangular Caravan Mattresses

Standard rectangular replacement caravan mattresses for bunk beds, pull-out beds, side dinettes, and fixed bed layouts. The most versatile shape, suitable for nearly all touring caravan sleeping arrangements where a simple rectangle fits the bed frame.

Island Bed Caravan Mattresses

Replacement island bed mattresses for touring caravans with rear island bed layouts. These feature curved or rounded foot-ends to fit around the bed frame and maximise floor space. Popular with Bailey Unicorn, Swift Elegance, Elddis Crusader, Buccaneer, and Coachman VIP owners. Made to measure for any make, model, or year.

Caravan Mattresses with Splits (Multi-Piece)

Split caravan mattresses in two, three, or more pieces. Perfect for caravans, motorhomes, and boats where the mattress needs to fold for transport, hinge for storage access, or stack away when converting from bed to seating. You choose exactly where the split goes during checkout.

Boat Mattresses

Custom boat mattresses including V-berth designs for forward cabins, hull-shaped mattresses that follow curved hull walls, and nonagon shapes for unusual cabin layouts. Made to measure for narrowboats, canal boats, sailing yachts, motor cruisers, and Dutch barges. All boat mattresses feature moisture-resistant materials suitable for marine environments.

Special Shape Mattresses

Specialist mattress shapes for unusual sleeping arrangements including circular round beds, HGV lorry cabs for professional drivers, and completely custom designs. If you have a bed that doesn't fit any standard category, we can make a mattress to match any shape you can draw.

Replacement Elddis Mattresses β€” Made to Measure for Every Model

Elddis is one of Britain's most established caravan and motorhome manufacturers, building touring caravans, campervans and the premium Buccaneer range at their factory in County Durham. They build excellent caravans. The Elddis mattress that comes fitted as standard, however, is not excellent β€” it is adequate at best and a genuine liability at worst. After more than 40 years making replacement Elddis caravan mattresses, we have helped thousands of owners get the sleep their vehicle should have come with from day one.

Whether you need a replacement Elddis Avante mattress, an Elddis Crusader mattress, an Elddis Affinity mattress, or a mattress for any other model past or present β€” we have made it before, we have the measurements on file, and we can make yours to the same standard. Every Elddis mattress we produce is cut and sewn to order in our Birmingham workshop. Nothing off the shelf, nothing modified to fit. Bespoke from the first cut.

Elddis Avante Mattress

The Avante is Elddis's entry-level touring caravan and one of the most common models we receive enquiries about. Because it sits at the accessible end of the Elddis range, the factory Elddis Avante mattress reflects where the budget went β€” which was not the bedroom. The foam is typically 10–12cm deep and compresses noticeably within a season or two of regular use.

We make replacement Elddis Avante mattresses for all floor plans including the 462, 474, 524, 554 and 586. The Avante island bed has curved corners that we have templated for every production year. If you tell us your floor plan and year, we can confirm the exact shape and dimensions from our records β€” no measuring required in most cases.

Elddis Crusader Mattress

The Crusader is Elddis's mid-range workhorse and, along with the Affinity, one of the models we make most frequently. The Crusader range has had numerous variants over the years β€” Aurora, GT, Storm, Superstorm, Super Sirocco and others β€” and bed configurations vary between them. We hold measurements for all Crusader variants.

The Elddis Crusader French bed is a particularly common order for us. The angled foot cut on a Crusader French bed mattress needs to be precise β€” get the angle slightly wrong and you end up with either a gap at the foot end or a mattress that bunches against the side wall. We have made Elddis Crusader mattresses for every variant produced in the last 40 years and we know exactly what each one needs.

Elddis Affinity Mattress

The Affinity generates more calls about curved corners than any other Elddis model. The island bed on the Affinity 530 and 554 in particular has pronounced curves at the foot end that catch people out badly. A standard rectangular replacement simply will not fit β€” it overhangs into the walkway and makes getting round the bed impossible.

Our replacement Elddis Affinity mattresses are cut to the exact curve radius of your specific floor plan, and the cover is hand-sewn to follow every millimetre of that shape. No bunching, no puckering, no shortcuts at the corners. The close-up photograph below shows the kind of finish we achieve on Affinity corners β€” this is not machine work and it is not something most mattress manufacturers can replicate.

Elddis Chatsworth Mattress

The Chatsworth sits at the top of the standard Elddis caravan range β€” a step up from the Affinity in specification and finish. Owners who have invested in a Chatsworth are often surprised to find the mattress does not match the quality of everything else in the caravan. It does not. The Chatsworth factory mattress uses the same low-density foam as cheaper models in the range.

We make replacement Elddis Chatsworth mattresses for all layouts, including the fixed island bed configurations that are most common in this range. For Chatsworth owners, we typically recommend at least our mid-range memory foam option to match the overall quality of the caravan β€” though many Chatsworth owners opt for our top-specification pocket sprung mattress, which is frankly what a caravan at that price point should have been fitted with from the factory.

Elddis Xplore Mattress

The Xplore is Elddis's lightweight entry-level range, aimed at buyers who want to keep their outfit weight down. If you own an Xplore, you are already conscious of payload β€” and that consideration carries through to your Elddis Xplore mattress choice. Our memory foam mattresses are the obvious fit here: substantially better support and comfort than the factory mattress whilst adding minimal weight. We make Xplore mattresses for the 422, 432, 454 and 586 floor plans.

Elddis Campervans β€” Autoquest, Accordo, Magnum, Encore and Majestic

For Elddis campervan owners, the mattress matters more than it does in a touring caravan. When you are covering serious miles, poor sleep does not just make your holiday unpleasant β€” it affects your concentration behind the wheel. Arriving at a destination exhausted after a long drive is not just uncomfortable; it is a safety issue.

Elddis Autoquest mattress β€” the Autoquest is the most popular Elddis campervan and the model we make most frequently. Fixed double beds are the most common configuration, and we have measurements for every Autoquest floor plan going back to the original series.

Elddis Accordo mattress β€” the Accordo is Elddis's compact campervan option. Bed dimensions are tighter than the Autoquest in most floor plans, which makes getting the measurements right even more important. We hold Accordo templates for all production years.

Elddis Magnum mattress β€” the Magnum GTV and other Magnum variants have a fixed double bed that is one of the largest in the Elddis campervan range. Some Magnum owners choose to prioritise comfort entirely over payload, opting for our hotel-quality pocket sprung mattress. A few extra kilograms are a reasonable trade when the alternative is white-knuckling the drive home on three hours of broken sleep.

Elddis Encore and Majestic mattresses β€” we make replacement mattresses for both ranges. Tell us your model and year and we will confirm whether we have the dimensions on file.

Older and Discontinued Elddis Models

We have been making Elddis mattresses for over 40 years and hold archived measurements going back decades. If you have an older Elddis caravan β€” an Odyssey, Rambler, Wisp, Elf, Whirlwind, Cyclone, Typhoon or Hurricane β€” we have almost certainly made a mattress for your exact model and year before. These are not obscure requests to us; they are everyday orders. Tell us the model name and year and we will check our records.

Buccaneer β€” Elddis's Premium Range

The Buccaneer β€” covering the Barracuda, Commodore, Cruiser and Aruba β€” is manufactured by Elddis at the same County Durham facility but is an entirely separate range with its own dimensions and configurations. We hold separate templates for Buccaneer models. If you own a Buccaneer, see our dedicated Buccaneer mattress page for full model-specific information.

Why the Factory Elddis Mattress Falls Short

Elddis allocates its budget to the kitchen, washroom, chassis and upholstery. The mattress is fitted because the bed needs something in it β€” not because it has been specified for sleep quality. Factory Elddis mattresses are typically 10–12cm deep using foam rated at around 28–30kg per cubic metre. That density feels acceptable in a showroom. Under regular use β€” particularly for anyone over 12 stone β€” it bottoms out within a season or two and starts causing the stiff backs and broken nights that Elddis owners complain about.

Our replacement Elddis caravan mattresses use a minimum of 33kg per cubic metre reflex foam as standard, rising to 39kg per cubic metre in our premium options. We can also make mattresses up to 25cm deep in most Elddis models without clearance issues β€” most owners are surprised how much headroom they actually have once we check. The combination of higher density and greater depth transforms what a night in your Elddis actually feels like.

Elddis Island Beds β€” Why the Shape Matters

Elddis island beds have curved corners at the foot end that vary between models and production years. The curves on an Affinity are more pronounced than those on an Avante; the curves on a 2018 Crusader may differ from a 2015 Crusader in the same floor plan. A standard rectangular mattress from a high-street retailer will not fit any of them β€” it would overhang into the walkway and make getting around the bed properly impossible.

Every Elddis island bed mattress we make is cut to the exact corner radius of your specific model and year. The cover is then hand-sewn to follow that curve precisely. This is not something that can be done by machine and it is not something most manufacturers are willing to attempt. We have templates for every Elddis island bed ever produced.

Lift-Up Beds and Gas Strut Weights

Many Elddis models have lift-up island beds with gas strut mechanisms. These struts are calibrated for the weight of the original factory mattress. Fitting something significantly heavier can overload the mechanism, make the bed difficult to lift, or cause premature strut failure. We account for this on every order.

Our memory foam mattresses typically weigh 12–18kg and are compatible with all Elddis gas strut mechanisms. Our pocket sprung mattresses run 25–30kg β€” for these, we check your specific Elddis model before recommending them to ensure the struts can handle the additional load. If there is a potential issue, we will tell you before you order, not after.

Linking Options for Sectioned Elddis Mattresses

Some Elddis layouts require a mattress that splits into sections β€” either to access under-bed storage or because the island bed folds away. We offer two linking options: zip links, which allow you to separate the sections completely when needed, and fabric links, which provide a permanent join that disappears when the bed is made. Tell us how you use your Elddis and we will advise which option suits your layout.

Hand-Sewn Covers β€” The Difference You Can See

Cutting the foam to shape is straightforward. Making a cover that follows every millimetre of a curved or angled cut β€” with no bunching, no puckering, no pulling at the corners β€” requires skilled seamstresses who know exactly what they are doing. This is what separates a properly bespoke Elddis mattress from everything else on the market.

Look at the corner detail on one of our Elddis Affinity mattresses and you will see the fabric shaped and stitched to follow the exact contour of the cut. This is done entirely by hand by seamstresses who have been perfecting this craft for years. Most caravan mattress suppliers use generic covers stretched over approximate shapes β€” when they hit a pronounced curve or an unusual angle, the cover bunches, the corners pull, and the whole thing looks like what it is: a compromise. We do not do compromises. Every Elddis mattress we make fits the way it was supposed to from the day the caravan was built β€” except better.

Elddis Caravan and Campervan Mattress Questions

Common questions about replacement Elddis mattresses for caravans and campervans

Do you make a replacement mattress for the Elddis Avante?
+

Yes β€” we make replacement Elddis Avante mattresses for all floor plans including the 462, 474, 524, 554 and 586. Simply tell us your floor plan number and year of manufacture and we can confirm the exact dimensions from our records. The Avante island bed has curved corners that we have templated for every production year β€” no measuring required for most models.

Do you make a replacement mattress for the Elddis Crusader?
+

Yes β€” the Elddis Crusader is one of the models we make most frequently. We have measurements for all Crusader variants including the Aurora, GT, Storm, Superstorm and Super Sirocco across all production years. Island bed and French bed configurations both covered. Tell us your Crusader variant and year and we will confirm dimensions without you needing to measure.

The Crusader French bed mattress in particular needs to be cut accurately β€” the angled foot cut must be right or the mattress will not sit flat against the side wall.

Do you make a replacement mattress for the Elddis Affinity?
+

Yes β€” the Elddis Affinity is the model that generates the most enquiries about curved corners. The island bed on the Affinity 530 and 554 has quite pronounced curves at the foot end that a standard rectangular mattress cannot accommodate. We hold templates for all Affinity floor plans and production years. Our covers are hand-sewn to follow the exact curve of your specific Affinity model.

Which Elddis models do you make mattresses for?
+

We make replacement mattresses for every Elddis model past and present:

  • Current touring caravans: Avante, Crusader, Affinity, Chatsworth, Xplore
  • Previous touring caravans: Odyssey, Rambler, Wisp, Elf, Whirlwind, Cyclone, Typhoon, Hurricane
  • Premium range: Buccaneer (Barracuda, Commodore, Cruiser, Aruba)
  • Campervans and motorhomes: Autoquest, Accordo, Encore, Magnum, Majestic

We have been making Elddis mattresses for over 40 years and hold archived measurements going back decades. For most models, tell us the model name and year and we can confirm dimensions without you needing to measure anything.

Do I need to measure my Elddis caravan or campervan bed?
+

For most Elddis models, no β€” we already have the exact dimensions in our database. Simply tell us:

  • Your Elddis model name (e.g., Affinity 554, Crusader Aurora, Autoquest)
  • The year of manufacture
  • Whether you have an island bed, French bed, or fixed double

We can then confirm the dimensions and corner shapes from our records. If you have an older or unusual model, we will guide you through measuring or send a free template.

Is Buccaneer the same as Elddis?
+

Buccaneer is the flagship premium range manufactured by Elddis at their County Durham factory. Whilst bed shapes share some similarities with standard Elddis caravans, Buccaneer models have their own specific dimensions and configurations. We hold separate databases for Buccaneer and standard Elddis models to ensure we get the exact measurements right for your specific caravan.

Why do Elddis island beds need specially shaped mattresses?
+

Elddis island beds have curved corners at the foot end that vary between models and production years. The Affinity range in particular has quite pronounced curves. A standard rectangular mattress from a high-street retailer will not fit β€” it would overhang into the bedroom walkway and prevent you from getting around the bed properly.

Our Elddis island bed mattresses are cut to match the exact corner radius of your specific model and year, giving you a perfect fit that maximises your sleeping area without impeding the walkway. We hold templates for every Elddis island bed configuration ever produced.

Will a heavier replacement mattress damage my Elddis lift-up bed mechanism?
+

It can do if you choose incorrectly. Elddis gas struts are calibrated for the weight of the original factory mattress. We account for this on every order.

Tell us your Elddis model and we will advise which options are suitable for your bed mechanism before you order.

Do you make mattresses for Elddis campervans?
+

Yes β€” we make replacement mattresses for the full Elddis campervan range including Autoquest, Accordo, Encore, Magnum and Majestic. We hold measurements for all floor plans and production years.

For campervan owners covering long distances, sleep quality affects more than just comfort β€” it affects your alertness behind the wheel. Some customers prioritise comfort over payload and opt for our hotel-quality pocket sprung mattress to ensure they arrive refreshed rather than exhausted.

What is wrong with the factory mattress in my Elddis?
+

Elddis factory mattresses are typically 10–12cm deep using foam rated at around 28–30kg per cubic metre. This causes several problems for regular touring:

  • Low density foam: Bottoms out quickly, especially for heavier sleepers
  • Too thin: Does not provide enough support for a proper night's sleep
  • Poor breathability: Can cause condensation issues in cooler weather
  • Limited lifespan: Compresses noticeably within a season or two

Our replacement Elddis mattresses use a minimum of 33kg per cubic metre foam, rising to 39kg per cubic metre for premium options. We can also make mattresses up to 25cm deep in most Elddis models β€” most owners are surprised how much headroom they actually have.

How long does a replacement Elddis mattress take to arrive?
+

Every Elddis mattress is made to order in our Birmingham workshop. Typical lead times:

  • Foam mattresses: 7–10 working days
  • Memory foam mattresses: 10–14 working days
  • Pocket sprung mattresses: 14–21 working days
  • Delivery: FREE to most UK mainland addresses

Your mattress arrives vacuum-packed for easy handling through your Elddis door and reaches full expansion within 4–6 hours.

What guarantee do you offer on Elddis mattresses?
+

All our Elddis mattresses come with comprehensive guarantees (3–10 years depending on type) covering:

  • Manufacturing defects: Materials, construction, stitching
  • Structural integrity: Premature sagging or loss of support
  • Size accuracy: Guaranteed to fit your specific Elddis model

Our Perfect Fit Promise: If we have got the dimensions wrong or the mattress does not fit your Elddis properly, we will remake it completely free of charge.
