We cut round and circular mattresses to any diameter from our Birmingham workshop, in reflex foam, memory foam, Novotex latex foam and pocket sprung, with no minimum or maximum size restriction. Whether you need a replacement mattress for an IKEA round bed, a bespoke circle mattress for a custom bed frame, a round mattress topper, or a circular sleeping surface for a boat cabin, we make it to your exact specification.
IKEA Round Bed Replacement Mattress
The IKEA Sultan Säng round bed is one of the most common round mattress enquiries we receive. The Sultan Säng takes a circular mattress 210cm in diameter — a size that no standard mattress retailer stocks and that IKEA no longer supplies, having discontinued the range. If you have an IKEA round bed and the original mattress has deteriorated, we make a direct replacement to the correct 210cm diameter in your choice of foam specification.
We also make round mattress toppers for the IKEA round bed — a 210cm diameter memory foam or reflex foam topper is an effective way to refresh a round mattress that is still structurally sound but has lost its surface comfort. Round bed frames and circular sleeping platforms appear in a wide range of settings beyond the IKEA Sultan Säng — bespoke upholstered bed frames, themed children's rooms, luxury interior design builds, glamping pods, boat cabins and custom van conversions. Whatever the diameter of your circular platform, we cut the mattress to that exact size. There is no minimum or maximum diameter we work to — just give us the measurement across the widest point of your platform and we take it from there.
For a true circle, one measurement is all we need — the diameter. If your platform is not a perfect circle but is broadly circular — an octagon, a rounded polygon, or any other multi-sided approximation of a circle — we can cut to that shape too. We will ask for a diagram or photograph showing the shape alongside measurements and cut accordingly.
Round Mattress Toppers
A round mattress topper is an effective and more affordable alternative to a full mattress replacement — particularly useful where the existing round mattress is still in reasonable structural condition but the surface comfort has diminished. We make round mattress toppers in reflex foam and memory foam, cut to any diameter, in depths from 3cm to 7cm. A memory foam round topper moulds to body shape and significantly improves surface comfort on an older mattress. A reflex foam topper adds a firmer, more supportive layer.
For the IKEA Sultan Säng specifically, a 210cm diameter memory foam topper is a popular option — significantly less expensive than a full replacement mattress and often sufficient to restore comfortable sleeping on a bed frame that is otherwise in good condition.
How to Measure a Round Mattress
For a true circle, measure the diameter — the straight-line distance across the widest point of the platform, passing through the centre. Take this measurement in two or three directions to confirm the platform is genuinely circular rather than slightly oval. If the measurements differ by more than a centimetre, your platform may be oval rather than round — in which case we need the longest and shortest measurements to cut an oval rather than a circle.
For non-circular platforms — octagons, rounded polygons, and similar shapes — a photograph of the platform from above alongside measurements of the key dimensions is the most reliable way to communicate the shape. We will confirm our understanding of the shape before cutting.

Circular and near-circular sleeping platforms appear in several specialist contexts beyond the domestic bedroom. Boat cabin beds — particularly in yacht forecabin berths — sometimes use a circular or multi-sided platform to make efficient use of the tapered bow section. Glamping pods and luxury camping installations occasionally feature circular floor mattresses or raised circular sleeping platforms. We make round mattresses for all of these applications, cut to the exact dimensions of the platform and specified appropriately for the environment.
