Browse All Caravan Mattress Shapes

We manufacture 62 different replacement mattress shapes for touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans, and boats. Every shape is custom-made to measure in our Birmingham factory. Select your size above to get started.

Rectangular Caravan Mattresses

Standard rectangular replacement caravan mattresses for bunk beds, pull-out beds, side dinettes, and fixed bed layouts. The most versatile shape, suitable for nearly all touring caravan sleeping arrangements where a simple rectangle fits the bed frame.

Island Bed Caravan Mattresses

Replacement island bed mattresses for touring caravans with rear island bed layouts. These feature curved or rounded foot-ends to fit around the bed frame and maximise floor space. Popular with Bailey Unicorn, Swift Elegance, Elddis Crusader, Buccaneer, and Coachman VIP owners. Made to measure for any make, model, or year.

Caravan Mattresses with Splits (Multi-Piece)

Split caravan mattresses in two, three, or more pieces. Perfect for caravans, motorhomes, and boats where the mattress needs to fold for transport, hinge for storage access, or stack away when converting from bed to seating. You choose exactly where the split goes during checkout.

Boat Mattresses

Custom boat mattresses including V-berth designs for forward cabins, hull-shaped mattresses that follow curved hull walls, and nonagon shapes for unusual cabin layouts. Made to measure for narrowboats, canal boats, sailing yachts, motor cruisers, and Dutch barges. All boat mattresses feature moisture-resistant materials suitable for marine environments.

Special Shape Mattresses

Specialist mattress shapes for unusual sleeping arrangements including circular round beds, HGV lorry cabs for professional drivers, and completely custom designs. If you have a bed that doesn't fit any standard category, we can make a mattress to match any shape you can draw.

ABI Static Caravan Mattresses Hand-Made to Order

ABI have been building static caravans in Beverley, East Yorkshire since 1972, and they are one of the most common brands you will find on holiday parks across the country. We have been making replacement mattresses for ABI holiday homes for years — from the older Arizona and Brisbane models right through to the current Ambleside, Beverley, and Windermere ranges. If you own an ABI and the mattress needs replacing, we have almost certainly made one for your model before.

What We Know About ABI Beds

ABI statics generally use standard UK bed sizes in the master bedroom — usually a 4ft 6in double or a king size depending on the model and year. That sounds straightforward, but there is a catch. The bed frames in ABI holiday homes are often recessed into a surround or set against partition walls, which means the actual space available for the mattress is slightly smaller than the frame itself. If you order a standard off-the-shelf mattress, it will either not fit into the space or you will be fighting to get bedding tucked in around the edges. We always recommend ordering 3 to 4cm smaller than the bed space, which gives you roughly 2cm clearance on each side for tucking in sheets. We cut to your exact measurements, so this is never a problem.

The twin and single rooms in ABI statics tend to be a bit more awkward. The beds are often shorter than a standard domestic single — typically around 180cm rather than 190cm — and some models have beds pushed into alcoves or against angled walls. The older ABI models from the late 1990s and 2000s, like the Montrose and the Phoenix, are particularly tight on space in the second bedroom. We make these all the time and know exactly what to expect.

Many ABI statics also have a pull-out sofa bed in the lounge, usually a Som'toile fold-out mechanism. These are the same three-fold polypropylene beds you will find in Willerby, Atlas, Cosalt, and Delta statics — it is a standard fitting across the industry. The factory Som'toile mattress is thin and uncomfortable — it is really just a pad. We can make a proper foam replacement to fit the fold-out frame, though you are limited on depth because it has to fold back into the sofa. We typically make these at 5cm to 7cm in a medium-density foam, which is a significant improvement without interfering with the mechanism.

The Problem with Factory-Fitted ABI Mattresses

This is not a criticism of ABI specifically — it applies to virtually every static caravan manufacturer. The mattress that comes with your holiday home is the cheapest part of the build. It is usually an open-coil sprung unit with a thin comfort layer, made to hit a price point rather than provide a decent night's sleep. On a £50,000 to £80,000 holiday home, the factory mattress might cost the manufacturer £40 to £60. It shows. Most ABI owners we hear from say the mattress was tolerable for the first season or two, then quickly deteriorated. The springs start to dig through, the edges collapse, and you end up rolling into the middle.

The other issue specific to static caravans is damp. Holiday homes on parks are susceptible to condensation, particularly during the off-season when they are closed up. A mattress sitting on a solid divan base with no airflow underneath will absorb moisture from below. Over a couple of winters, this can lead to mould forming on the underside of the mattress — even if the caravan itself is in good condition. All of our replacement mattresses come with breathable, removable covers that can be unzipped and washed, and we always recommend standing the mattress up on its side when you close the caravan down for winter to let air circulate.

Choosing the Right Mattress for Your ABI

Because static caravans are not moving, you do not have the same weight restrictions as a touring caravan. This means you can go for a heavier, more luxurious mattress without worrying about payload. Our Imperial Elite™ 2000 pocket sprung mattress is a popular choice for ABI owners who want a genuine hotel-quality feel — 2000 individual pocket springs with memory foam and cooling gel, finished in a cashmere blend cover. At 25cm deep, it transforms a static caravan bedroom into something that genuinely rivals a good domestic bed.

If your ABI has a lift-up storage bed, which many of the newer models do, you need to factor in the weight of the mattress against the gas struts. Our Bodyshape™ memory foam and CoolPlus™ cool gel mattresses are lighter options that still deliver excellent comfort and support. We will check your specific model to make sure the struts can handle whatever mattress you choose.

ABI Models We Make Mattresses For

We make replacement mattresses for every ABI static caravan ever produced. Current models include the Ambleside, Beverley, Windermere, Westwood, Coworth, Harlech, Hamilton, Saffron, Oakley, Wimbledon, and St David. Older models include the Arizona, Brisbane, Madison, Montrose, Phoenix, Sunrise, Horizon, Langdale, Beaumont, Beachcomber, Fairlight, Sunningdale, Ashcroft, and Trieste — plus all the bespoke-branded models ABI have built for individual holiday park chains over the years.

If you are not sure what model you have, check the plate on the outside of the caravan near the door — it will have the model name and year. Give us the model, the year, and which bed you need replacing, and we will take it from there. If your ABI is one we have made for before, we can usually confirm the dimensions straightaway without you needing to measure anything.
