Replacement Arronbrook Static Caravan Mattresses
Arronbrook is a family-run static caravan manufacturer based in Hull, building holiday homes since 1987. What makes them unusual in the industry is that every caravan they produce can be customised to a bespoke floor plan. Parks and individual owners can specify the layout, the number of bedrooms, and the positioning of furniture before the unit leaves the factory. That flexibility is exactly why replacing an Arronbrook mattress is trickier than it sounds — you cannot simply look up a model name and assume the bed dimensions will match another caravan with the same badge.
Why Arronbrook Beds Vary
Most of the larger static caravan manufacturers — ABI, Willerby, Swift — produce fixed floor plans where every unit off the line has the same bed in the same position at the same size. If you know the model and the year, you know the mattress dimensions. Arronbrook works differently. A Topaz ordered by a park in Scarborough might have a different bedroom arrangement from a Topaz ordered by a park in Tenby. The master bed could be a standard UK double at 135cm by 190cm, a small double at 120cm by 190cm, or something in between depending on the width of the caravan and what the buyer asked for. The only reliable way to know what fits your Arronbrook is to measure the bed platform itself.
This is especially true when comparing 10ft-wide and 12ft-wide models. Arronbrook builds both, and the difference in interior width has a direct impact on bedroom proportions. In a 10ft-wide Clipper, the master bedroom is compact and the bed typically fills the room wall to wall. In a 12ft-wide Eclipse, there is space for a wider bed, fitted wardrobes, a dressing table, and in some layouts a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite. The same model name does not mean the same mattress size.
The Arronbrook Model Range
Arronbrook's current range covers six main models. The Eclipse sits at the top — it has a vaulted ceiling throughout, panoramic windows or French doors, and a pneumatic lift-up bed in the master bedroom with storage underneath. The Scenic is a similar quality level with divan beds and padded headboards, available with an en-suite in the two-bedroom layout. The Opale is what Arronbrook calls a closed lounge model, meaning the living room has a door separating it from the bedrooms rather than an open-plan flow — the bedrooms tend to be slightly larger as a result. The Topaz is the family-oriented model, available in nine different size and bedroom combinations from a compact 24ft by 10ft two-bedroom up to a spacious 38ft by 12ft three-bedroom. The Clipper is the entry-level model, and the Phoenix and Pure are newer additions to the range.
Every model is available with two or three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double or king-size divan bed depending on the caravan width. Twin bedrooms have single beds, though these are not always a standard 3ft by 6ft3 — in a narrower layout, the singles may be 2ft6 or a non-standard length. Three-bedroom models on 12ft-wide chassis often have a pull-out bed in the lounge as well, adding another mattress requirement that is easy to overlook.
Pneumatic Lift-Up Beds
The Eclipse and some bespoke Scenic layouts use a pneumatic lift-up bed base rather than a conventional divan. The mattress sits on a hinged platform that lifts on gas struts to reveal storage below. This has two practical consequences for a replacement mattress. First, the mattress must not be so heavy that it overwhelms the gas struts — they are calibrated for the weight of the original. A thick pocket-sprung mattress at 25cm deep will weigh significantly more than the 15cm foam original, so the struts may need adjusting or replacing. Second, the mattress must not be so thick that it fouls the headboard or rear wall when the platform lifts. We will check your specific layout before recommending a depth for any lift-up base.
What We Recommend
For standard divan bases in the Scenic, Topaz, Clipper, and Opale, there is no weight restriction worth worrying about. Static caravans do not move once sited, so payload is irrelevant. You can choose any depth and specification you like. Our Bodyshape™ memory foam mattress at 20cm or our CoolPlus™ cool gel mattress are both popular choices for static caravan owners who want a genuine step up from the factory-fitted foam. For those wanting a traditional feel, the Imperial Elite™ 2000 pocket sprung at 25cm delivers proper support and is the closest thing to a residential-quality mattress that will fit a static caravan bed frame.
For lift-up beds in the Eclipse, we typically recommend staying at 20cm depth or below unless you have confirmed the clearance with us first. The Bodyshape™ or CoolPlus™ at 20cm work well — they are light enough for the gas struts and flexible enough for the platform mechanism.
For pull-out lounge beds in 12ft models, we make a thinner mattress at around 10cm to 12cm. It needs to fold or flex enough to slide back into the sofa base. We will confirm the fold type with you before making it.
Arronbrook Models We Cover
We make replacement mattresses for every Arronbrook model, current and older, including the Eclipse, Scenic, Opale, Topaz, Clipper, Phoenix, Pure, and the discontinued Luxihome. We cover all size combinations from 24ft by 10ft through to 38ft by 12ft and beyond, in one, two, and three-bedroom layouts. Because Arronbrook builds to bespoke floor plans, we always confirm dimensions before manufacturing — give us the model name, the caravan size, and ideally a photograph or measurement of the bed platform, and we will take it from there.
