How Much Does a Swift Caravan Mattress Cost?

It's usually the first question people ask — and the answer often surprises them. Most Swift owners expect a custom-made, bespoke caravan mattress to cost a premium over a standard off-the-shelf product. In reality, the opposite is often true.

Here's what you need to know about Swift caravan mattress prices, what affects the cost, and why buying bespoke from a British manufacturer makes more financial sense than most people expect.

Swift Caravan Mattress Prices — What to Expect

We manufacture six Swift caravan mattresses for the island bed with rounded bolster — one of the most popular bed configurations across the Swift range, found in models including the Challenger, Elegance, and Conqueror. Prices for a double island bed with bolster currently run as follows:

  • Essential™ — £379. Full foam, medium-firm to hard. Quality everyday comfort, ideal for occasional use.
  • Comfisan™ — £479. Reflex foam with semi-orthopaedic support for spinal alignment and back care. Medium-firm to hard.
  • Bodyshape™ — £499. Premium memory foam that moulds to your body for personalised comfort. Medium to hard.
  • Novolatex™ — £589. Our most popular Swift mattress. Latex-feel foam for responsive support and breathability.
  • Grand Crescent™ — £789. Four-layer luxury mattress with cool gel memory foam and advanced pressure relief.
  • Imperial Elite™ 2000 — £869. Our finest hotel-grade mattress with 2000 pocket springs, cool gel, and premium fillings.

All prices include free UK delivery and a 5-year guarantee. Every mattress is handmade to order at our Birmingham factory.

Is a Bespoke Swift Mattress More Expensive Than a Standard One?

This is the assumption most customers arrive with — and it's wrong. A bespoke Swift caravan mattress made to your exact shape and dimensions is typically no more expensive than an equivalent standard mattress from a high street retailer. In many cases it costs less.

A comparable mattress from a retailer like Dreams — same specification, same materials, standard four straight sides — would likely cost more than what we charge for a custom-cut version made specifically for your Swift. You are getting a home-quality mattress, cut to the exact shape of your caravan bed, at a price that competes directly with off-the-shelf alternatives. The bespoke element costs you nothing extra.

How Does Our Pricing Compare to Duvalay?

Many Swift owners consider going back to Duvalay when their factory-fitted mattress needs replacing — it feels like the safe, like-for-like choice. But a replacement Duvalay island bed mattress with bolster typically costs around £649.

Our most popular Swift island bed mattress — the Novolatex™ — comes in at £589. That's £60 less than a Duvalay replacement, for a considerably higher specification mattress. If you'd like to understand more about why the factory-fitted Duvalay falls short, read our guide to replacing your Swift Duvalay mattress.

What Affects the Price?

The main factors that influence the cost of a Swift caravan mattress are the foam specification and the complexity of the shape.

Foam specification is the biggest driver of price. Entry-level reflex foam costs less to produce than latex-feel or cool gel memory foam. The more sophisticated the foam technology, the higher the cost of raw materials — and that's reflected in the price. What doesn't change is the quality of the manufacturing or the precision of the cut.

Mattress depth also plays a role. We recommend a minimum of 20cm for any replacement Swift mattress — deeper than the standard factory fitting and made with higher density foam. The additional material adds a modest amount to the cost but makes a significant difference to the sleeping experience.

Bed configuration can affect price too. A straightforward rectangular single bunk mattress costs less than a complex island bed with a rounded bolster and sweeping curved corners. The additional cutting and finishing work involved in complex shapes is reflected in the final price.

Is It Worth Spending More?

The honest answer is that it depends entirely on how often you use your caravan. If you tour regularly — weekends throughout the season, longer trips in summer — then spending £499 to £589 on a Bodyshape™ or Novolatex™ is absolutely worthwhile. You'll feel the difference on the first night, and a quality mattress will last considerably longer than an entry-level replacement.

If your caravan sees occasional use — a fortnight a year and the odd weekend — our Essential™ at £379 will serve you well without overspending.

What we'd never recommend is cutting corners on depth or foam density to save a small amount of money. A mattress that's too thin or too soft will deteriorate quickly and leave you sleeping just as badly as you were on the original factory fitting.
