We manufacture 62 different replacement mattress shapes for touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans, and boats. Every shape is custom-made to measure in our Birmingham factory. Select your size above to get started.

Rectangular Caravan Mattresses

Standard rectangular replacement caravan mattresses for bunk beds, pull-out beds, side dinettes, and fixed bed layouts. The most versatile shape, suitable for nearly all touring caravan sleeping arrangements where a simple rectangle fits the bed frame.

Island Bed Caravan Mattresses

Replacement island bed mattresses for touring caravans with rear island bed layouts. These feature curved or rounded foot-ends to fit around the bed frame and maximise floor space. Popular with Bailey Unicorn, Swift Elegance, Elddis Crusader, Buccaneer, and Coachman VIP owners. Made to measure for any make, model, or year.

Caravan Mattresses with Splits (Multi-Piece)

Split caravan mattresses in two, three, or more pieces. Perfect for caravans, motorhomes, and boats where the mattress needs to fold for transport, hinge for storage access, or stack away when converting from bed to seating. You choose exactly where the split goes during checkout.

Boat Mattresses

Custom boat mattresses including V-berth designs for forward cabins, hull-shaped mattresses that follow curved hull walls, and nonagon shapes for unusual cabin layouts. Made to measure for narrowboats, canal boats, sailing yachts, motor cruisers, and Dutch barges. All boat mattresses feature moisture-resistant materials suitable for marine environments.

Special Shape Mattresses

Specialist mattress shapes for unusual sleeping arrangements including circular round beds, HGV lorry cabs for professional drivers, and completely custom designs. If you have a bed that doesn't fit any standard category, we can make a mattress to match any shape you can draw.

See It For Yourself

A customer receives their new caravan mattress — and tries it out on the spot

"Hi, Angelo. Just to say I have got the beautiful mattress on. What a beast. It fits perfectly. Look at that in the corners. That will flatten down there. Fits absolutely beautifully. Thank you so much. You're a genius, and it looks bloody amazing. This is what I was sleeping on. Look at that. Terrible. No support at all. But that looks fantastic. Thank you so, so much. Really appreciate it. And I'll leave it like you say. I'm not gonna be back down for a few days, and then we'll see what it feels like. Thank you."

— Follow-up text from Tracey, a few days later:

"I've had such good sleep since it arrived. Super comfy, I love it!! Well done Chaps!! 👏 💤"

Bespoke BK Bluebird Static Caravan Mattresses

BK Bluebird is one of the longest-established names in British static caravan manufacturing, with origins stretching back to the 1940s. The company began life in Parkstone, Poole — a rarity in an industry dominated by East Yorkshire — and spent decades building holiday homes on the Dorset coast before moving north to Hull. Willerby Holiday Homes acquired the brand in 2000, and after a brief closure during the 2008 recession, relaunched BK Bluebird as a division of Willerby at their Hedon Road factory. The brand continued producing static caravans under the Willerby umbrella until it was eventually retired, with the company formally dissolved in 2023.

That long production run means there are thousands of BK Bluebird units still sited on holiday parks across the country. From early Poole-built models like the Parkstone and Contessa through to the final Willerby-era Sheraton and Grosvenor, BK Bluebird caravans are everywhere — and the mattresses in them do not last as long as the caravans themselves. When the time comes to replace yours, a standard shop-bought mattress will not fit. You need one made to measure.

Two Manufacturing Eras — Two Different Approaches

Understanding whether your BK Bluebird was built in Poole or Hull matters when it comes to mattress replacement, because the two eras produced caravans with different construction methods and different bed dimensions.

The Poole-built models — everything manufactured before the 2009 closure — were designed and assembled independently at the Dorset factory. These units had their own chassis designs, their own interior layouts, and their own bed specifications. Models like the Brookwood, Contessa, Empress, Robertsbridge, and early Calypso and Carnival units from this period have bed sizes that are unique to BK's Poole production line. No specifications for these older models are published online, and there is no reliable way to determine the mattress size without measuring the bed platform yourself.

The Hull-built models — from 2009 onwards — were manufactured at Willerby's Hedon Road factory using Willerby's production methods and, in many cases, shared components. If your BK Bluebird dates from 2009 or later, the bed sizes may be closer to equivalent Willerby models of the same era, though they are still not guaranteed to match any standard domestic size. The later Caprice, for example, was built on the same production line as Willerby's own entry-level holiday homes, while the flagship Sheraton and Senator were assembled to BK Bluebird's own specifications within the Willerby factory.

Why BK Bluebird Beds Are Not Standard Sizes

The same issue that affects every static caravan manufacturer applies to BK Bluebird: the beds are built to fit the caravan, not to match a standard mattress catalogue. A master bedroom described as having a double bed may measure 135cm by 185cm, or 130cm by 190cm, or any number of variations that are close to — but not the same as — a standard UK double at 135cm by 190cm. The difference might only be a few centimetres, but a few centimetres is the difference between a mattress that fits properly and one that either overhangs the platform or leaves gaps at the edges.

Twin bedrooms are even less likely to match standard sizes. In a 10ft-wide BK Bluebird such as the entry-level Carnival or Calypso, the bedrooms are narrow by necessity, and the single beds may be 75cm or even 70cm wide — substantially less than the 90cm of a standard UK single mattress. In a 12ft-wide model the twins are more generous but still rarely match off-the-shelf dimensions exactly.

Caravan Width and What It Means for Mattresses

BK Bluebird produced static caravans in several widths over the years: 10ft, 12ft, 12ft 6in, and 13ft. The width of your caravan has a direct bearing on the size of every bed inside it.

The 10ft-wide models — typically the Carnival and Calypso in their most compact configurations — were popular with parks that had tight pitches or with buyers on a budget. These are the units most likely to have genuinely awkward mattress sizes: narrow singles, compact doubles, and pull-out sofa beds in the lounge that need cushions cut to a very specific shape. If you own a 10ft BK Bluebird, expect every mattress in it to be a non-standard dimension.

The 12ft and 12ft 6in models make up the bulk of BK Bluebird production. The Seville, Grosvenor, Sheraton, and Senator were all predominantly available in these widths, and while the bedrooms are more spacious than the 10ft range, the beds are still built to fill the available space rather than to match a domestic standard. The master bedroom may approach something close to a king size, but it will not be exactly 150cm by 200cm.

The 13ft-wide Linear, introduced in the Willerby era, offered the most generous bedroom proportions. Even here, the bed platform dimensions reflect the caravan's internal layout rather than any standard mattress size.

Current and Recent BK Bluebird Models

The final BK Bluebird range, produced at Willerby's Hull factory, comprised several distinct model lines spanning from entry-level holiday homes to premium flagship units:

The Carnival was the entry point to the range. Available in sizes from 28ft by 10ft up to 37ft by 12ft in two- and three-bedroom configurations, the Carnival was widely used on letting parks and by first-time buyers. Its aluminium cladding and steel pantile roof were typical of the range. Bed sizes in the 28ft by 10ft model are particularly compact.

The Calypso sat above the Carnival and was available in similar size options including a 28ft by 10ft version. The Calypso offered a step up in specification with better furnishings and fixtures while maintaining the same fundamental bed platform dimensions for each size variant.

The Seville was a popular mid-range two-bedroom model, predominantly available as a 35ft by 12ft unit. It featured an open-plan living area and en-suite master bedroom — a layout that gives the master bed reasonable proportions but still not identical to any standard domestic size.

The Caprice, introduced for the 2014 season, was offered in 30ft, 35ft, and 37ft lengths, all at 12ft 6in wide. The extra half foot of width over the standard 12ft models gives slightly more room in the bedrooms, but creates mattress dimensions that are even further from standard catalogue sizes.

The Grosvenor was one of BK Bluebird's most successful models — a premium two- or three-bedroom unit available at 37ft and 38ft by 12ft. The master bedroom featured en-suite access and designer mirrored wardrobes, but the bed platform itself was still dictated by the caravan's structural dimensions rather than any standard mattress specification.

The Sheraton was the flagship, available at 38ft by 12ft in two- and three-bedroom layouts. Superbly appointed with high-specification fixtures and free-standing furniture, the Sheraton offered generous master bedrooms but — as with every static caravan — generous does not mean standard.

The Senator was the ultimate expression of BK Bluebird luxury, measuring up to 41ft and featuring the most spacious interiors in the range. The Sherbourne (sometimes spelt Sherborne), available at 39ft and 40ft by 12ft, sat alongside the Sheraton as a near-flagship model with free-standing furniture and separate dining. The Linear, a contemporary design with a distinctive asymmetrical roof line and huge dormer windows, was offered at 40ft by 13ft — the widest BK Bluebird ever produced.

Older and Discontinued Models

Because BK Bluebird manufactured static caravans for over sixty years, the list of discontinued models is extensive. Many of these units are still in daily use on holiday parks — perfectly sound caravans that simply need new mattresses. We make replacement mattresses for all of them.

Poole-era models include the Brookwood, Canberra, Contessa, Empress, Ideal Sensation, Lulworth, Parkstone, Robertsbridge, and Savannah. These earlier units typically had simpler floor plans and more compact dimensions than the later Hull-built range, and their bed sizes are undocumented online. Measuring the bed platform is the only reliable method for these models.

Other discontinued models from across both eras include the Allerton, Ambleside, Athena, Autograph, Balmoral, Bowness, Centre Lodge, Coaster, Connoisseur, Countryside, Sienna, Sierra, Siesta, Signature, Solara Gold, Southwold, Sovereign, St David, Stratford, Studio, Summerbreeze, Sunningdale, Sunrise, Superior, Supreme, Swanley, Thornbury, Torino, Utopia, Vacation, Valetta, Vantage, Vermont View, Verona, Versailles, Vienna, Viewpoint, Virginia, Vogue, Vogue Classique, Vogue Connoisseur, Vogue Noveau, Waverley, Westfield, Westmoreland, Westwood, and Winchester. If your model is not listed here, we can still help — just measure and get in touch.

Sofa Beds and Pull-Out Beds

Many BK Bluebird models included pull-out sofa beds in the lounge area, particularly the 12ft-wide units from the Willerby era. These provide additional sleeping capacity but require specific cushion sizes that are even less likely to match standard dimensions than the bedroom mattresses. The pull-out bed cushion must fit the sofa frame in its folded position as well as forming a flat sleeping surface when extended — a dual requirement that makes off-the-shelf replacements virtually impossible.

We make replacement sofa bed cushions for all BK Bluebird models. Send us the measurements of both the folded and extended configurations and we will manufacture cushions that work properly in both positions.

What We Recommend

For private owners using their BK Bluebird for personal holidays, our CoolPlus™ memory foam mattress or Imperial Elite™ 2000 pocket-sprung mattress will give you a genuine step up from the factory original. Both are available in any size and shape to fit your bed platform exactly.

For park operators running BK Bluebird units in letting fleets, our Bodyshape™ reflex foam mattress is designed for durability under heavy use. It recovers its shape quickly between guests and resists the indentations that develop in softer foams when a mattress is slept on by different people every week. For twin bedrooms and sofa beds, a standard 10cm to 15cm reflex foam mattress is the most practical choice.
